October / November 2019 – We’ve been planning this trip for 6 months, and now it’s just a week away!

We decided to attempt the Three Passes Trek, a longer and more difficult option to the standard EBC route. The Three Passes route takes us over 3 high Passes above 5000m as well as to 4 summits over 5000m. With that sort of altitude and terrain, we should be blessed with more views and panoramas, compared to the standard EBC route, which sticks mostly to the valleys.

Our plan is to fly into Lukla, head north along the Dudh Khosi valley, then climb up to Namche Bazaar, the ‘capital’ of the Khumbu region. We’ll then head northeast, making a large anti-clockwise loop, winding back to Namche Bazaar from the Northwest 18 days later.

There’ll be side trips around the Namche villages, climbing the peaks near Dingboche, Chukhung, Gorak Shep and Gokyo, and a return hike along the Ngozumpa glacier to see the Gokyo Lakes system.
